Environmental Health and Sustainability
Environmental Health & Sustainability is part of the Community Development Department. The team’s primary function is to administer programs and services to help protect the health of Vail’s residents, employees and guests through the promotion of environmentally sound practices.
Environmental and Community Health Services
- Food Service establishment licensing and inspections
- Infectious disease outbreak investigation
- Water quality monitoring in conjunction with the Eagle River Watershed Council
- Town and highway clean up days
- Identification and mitigation of water quality concerns
- Stormwater permitting on areas of land disturbance between ½ acre and 1 acre.
Environmental Sustainability and Ecological Health Services
- Town of Vail Recycling drop-off center
- Free household hazardous waste removal service and free disposal of used oil and antifreeze for Vail residents
- Pine beetle infestation remediation and tree removal
- 30 minute consultation with Vail businesses on sustainable practices in cooperation with the Destination Preservation Program.
